Viewing Album:  Ferromex and Ferromex-leased CSX units on Lineville Subdivision of CSX

Album Info:In late 2010, information ciculated on various Yahoo Groups that CSX was leasing several SD70AC, SD70IAC and SD80MAC units to FXE into at least early 2011. I happen on a Mobile bound Q601 train with FXE leading units towing four CSX units fitting the description of FXE leased units headed to Mexico. Q601 is a Waycross to Mobile train so the units are likely headed to New Orleans for interchange to UP. Also included was a following train with UP power, showing a study of all three configurations of SD70M units purchased by UP.

Description:  Reports from various sources indicated that Ferromex was short term leasing CSX AC units in early 2011. The FXE units pictures were noted at Waycross with a gathering of the CSX ex CR SD80MACs and some of the SD70AC and SD70IAC units. This train appears to be a movement of unit headed westward and likely to FXE via UP in Memphis, TN.

Description:  As late as the late 1970s, the A&WP delivered boxcars full of lumber to Newman Building on East Depot Street. The spur was cut back and all switches removed around the CSX main when the yard was moved to Orchard Hill Road in the LaGrange Industrial Park. The spur, however, still lies in the woods and crosses the creek and runs into a locked rail gate, locked for the last time some 30 years ago.
