Imagine my surprise finding a Georgia RR Geep painted in GA colors (or close enough) in the middle of South Alabama. A three unit set brings in the grain cars for peanut loading in the head of summer

This picture is notable for two reasons. The ex ICG GP10 has only recently go a coat of G&O red and it still retains old journal bearing axle covers on its trucks. I would return in a couple of years to find this same unit in the same shape, though fade

The red of the unmarked GP10 had faded to pink after a few years in the hot South Alabama sun. This unit never got any markings other than a quickly fading coat of red.

The WGCR kept a stable roster of these three units during several lean years due to drought. The contrast of paint mixes shows the "pink lady" on the end and one of the original units now nore oxide than red.

AGLF 8108 sits with a sister GP10 #8091 on the Atlantic and Gulf in Albany, GA in the early 1990s. With a recent IC black coat of paint still looking good, AGLF decided to only replace the logos on these units and operate them in IC colors.

AGLF 8265 was a GP10 in G&O colors in the early 1990s. This unit carried the then standard charcoal color and billboard numbers justified to the long hood end

Shot of G&O Railways logo shows the nod to the GM&O winged logo.
Title:  Shot of G&O Railways logo shows the nod to the GM&O winged logo.
Description:  With all the constant trading of power between the growing G&O Railway empire, there was a push to create a standard paint scheme. Later, decals with the road name were added under the wing logo. These could be easily changed when the unit was reassigned to other operations without a major repaint.

Title:  Long hood shot of font used by G&O Railways in the 1990s shortly after changing from red to black scheme.
Description:  G&O Railways got an influx of ex IC Geeps in the early 1990s with relatively good paint and decided to switch to black from red. The black seemed to wear better with less fading.

AGLF 8311 showing off what was in the early 1990s the brand new logo of the G&O Railway family of shortlines. Until this point, units shared a similar paint color and layout, but each railroad had its own distinct logo.

Close up of long hood numbers. This trait from the early days of the G&O paint schemes was retained in varous forms to the modern G&O Railway family scheme.

AGLR 8311 sits with another GP11 at Albany Georgia in the early 1990s. IC rebuilds became the standard units used by the shortline for several years until its eventual sale to GA-FL Railnet.
